Privacy Policy

Your data,
plainly explained.

Last updated: June 3, 2026

1. Who we are

Culpari (culpari.com) is a platform that lets people place public apologies on a shared digital sky. A star can be posted for free and can optionally be made permanent. Questions or requests: hello@culpari.com.

2. What we collect and why

Apology content

The text of your apology (required, 5-500 characters). This becomes public as soon as you submit it. Free stars are visible on the public sky for up to 30 days and may remain accessible at their direct star URL. Permanent stars stay visible on the public sky indefinitely. We store apology records indefinitely unless they are removed or restricted under our Terms.

Names you provide

Your name or signature (optional) and the recipient's display name (optional) are stored alongside the apology and are publicly visible on the sky, the star page, and share previews.

Recipient email address

If you provide a recipient's email, we use it to send them a one-time link to the star when the apology is placed. We do not send marketing to recipients. The address is stored in our database but is never shown publicly.

IP address

Used for rate limiting and abuse prevention, including limits such as 5 free apology submissions per IP per day. IP addresses are processed at request time and may appear in short-lived infrastructure or abuse logs, but they are not stored as part of your public apology record.

Payment data

Payments for optional permanence are processed by LemonSqueezy, who acts as our merchant of record. We never see your card number, billing address, or full payment details. LemonSqueezy may share order details with us so we can mark a star as permanent.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the site is used. It may collect browser metadata (browser type, viewport, page views) via cookies or local storage. We disable autocapture, heatmaps, and session recording, and we redact star-page tokens from captured URLs. No apology content is intentionally shared with analytics providers. You may opt out by enabling Do Not Track in your browser; we honour it.

3. What is public

This is the most important thing to understand before you submit:

Your apology text, author name, and recipient display name are public as soon as you place the star. They may appear on culpari.com, on the star's direct URL, and in link previews.

Free stars fade from the visible sky after up to 30 days. Paid permanent stars stay visible on the public sky indefinitely. A star's direct URL may remain public even after it has faded from the visible sky.

4. How long we keep your data

Apology records are stored indefinitely so star pages, moderation history, and paid permanence can function. Free stars may be hidden from the visible sky after 30 days but are not automatically deleted.

Recipient email addresses may be deleted on request without affecting the public apology text or public display names. We may also remove or restrict data when needed for safety, privacy, legal compliance, or abuse prevention.

5. Third-party services

  • LemonSqueezyPayment processing and merchant of record for permanence purchases. Their privacy policy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
  • SupabaseDatabase hosting. Data stored in the US (AWS us-east-1). Their privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy
  • ResendTransactional email delivery for recipient notifications. Their privacy policy: resend.com/privacy
  • PostHogProduct analytics. US cloud. Their privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy
  • VercelHosting and edge network. Their privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

6. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or another privacy-rights jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data, such as a misspelled name
  • Erasure of non-public data, such as a recipient email address or internal payment reference, where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent

Public apology text and public display names are part of the public record you create by submitting. For paid permanent stars, permanent publication is the service purchased. We review deletion or restriction requests case by case, especially where safety, privacy, or legal concerns are involved.

To exercise any rights, email hello@culpari.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Content removal

We may remove, hide, or restrict a published apology if it violates our Terms of Service or creates safety, harassment, privacy, legal, or abuse concerns.

If you are a third party who believes a published apology contains your personal information or is being used to harass you, contact us at hello@culpari.com and we will review it as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Children

Culpari is not directed at anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe we have done so, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Our database is hosted by Supabase with row-level security enabled. The service-role database key is never exposed to client-side code. We apply standard security headers on all responses. That said, no system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted over the internet.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.
